SPAIN WORKSHOPS

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS IN SPAIN

Location

The Valencian region of Spain is the ideal location for a street photography workshop. There will be no shortage of subjects as you will be perfectly positioned to allow us just a short drive away from the city of Valencia, the historical town of Xativa and the many seaside resorts along the coast like Benidorm, Javea and Gandia as well as the typical Spanish town where you will be staying.

You will be staying in the town of L’Olleria which is located 35 minutes from the coast and 1 hour from either Valencia or Alicante airport.

In the evening you can relax in the comfy and spacious accommodation and tuck into the excellent, healthy local food and wine as we get together to discuss and edit your photos.

What to expect

  • The workshop is a mixture of daily photo shootings, photo critiques and presentations. There are no fixed hours, it is a 24-hour-a-day experience and will depend on local fiestas, weather, etc.
  • The participants take pictures every day, working in pairs, on their own or together with Mark. There are no large group shoots as the workshops are kept to a maximum of 3 people. Every evening everyone gets together to discuss and edit their photos. Mark reviews participants’ photos every day.
  • Each workshop requires at least 3 participants to go ahead. Anyone signing up should wait until the workshop is confirmed before finalising their travel arrangements.
  • Accommodation, you will be staying with Mark & Tracy in their Spanish house in L’Olleria. Breakfast and evening meals are included in the cost. A drink with your meals will be included but you may fancy purchasing a few extra beers/wines from the local supermarket for your evenings.

Conditions/Requirements

  • A digital CAMERA with sufficient memory cards and batteries to be able to shoot all day. If you choose to shoot with a film camera you will not be able to receive critiques of your photos.  Two chargers and five batteries are recommended for mirrorless cameras
  • A 35mm fixed focal LENS or its crop sensor equivalent is highly advised, because using such a lens teaches more about composition and forces you to get closer to your subjects.
  • A laptop with photo software (Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, etc) for displaying/editing/sharing photos. You will need to have sufficient knowledge of the software as this isn’t a course on how to use your software although some advice/tips may be given. You need to have enough free space on the laptop’s hard drive for all photos taken during the workshop or preferably use an external hard drive for storage/backup.
  • Each workshop requires at least 3 participants to go ahead. Anyone signing up should wait until the workshop is confirmed before finalising their travel arrangements.
  • Travel and health insurance. All participants must be in good health. Mark is not responsible for personal accidents and health related issues during the workshop, although if such occur he will do his best to help out.
